In the wake of the displacement of four million Syrians in what the United Nations has called “the worst refugee crisis since World War II”, Congregation Darchei Noam voted unanimously to sponsor the relocation of a Kurdish Syrian family, currently living in a perilous situation in Lebanon, to Canada. As the first synagogue in Toronto to take part in this initiative, Darchei Noam tells the Canadian Jewish News how it hopes other groups will soon join the effort.
