A proud supporter of Israel and Zionism, Teutsch expresses his concerns regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent political decisions which conflict with the Zionist visions held by many American Jews.
In the midst of stalled Palestinian negotiations, growing inequality for Israel’s Arab citizens, and the state’s waning international reputation, Netanyahu troubled many of Israel’s American supporters by accepting the Republican Party’s invitation to speak to Congress shortly before the Israeli elections. This has “dealt a major blow to the long-time United States-Israel alliance, in which partisan politics have until now been kept at bay.”
“Like an increasing number of American Jews,” says Teutsch, “I want to make it clear that Netanyahu does not speak for me.”
